Write on, fill in and sign a PDF for free
Guide checked on 23 September 2026 · Computer and mobile
To complete a PDF, open it in Parapheo, tap where you need to fill it in, add your text or the date, then place your signature before downloading the result. The document content is processed in your browser and no watermark is added.
Add text, a date and a signature
- Open the PDF. Choose the file from your device. The document is rendered page by page in the browser.
- Place the text. Tap or click where you want it, choose “Text”, type up to 120 characters and select a size. You can then move, resize or correct this block.
- Add the date. Choose “Date” to place today's date. On mobile, the menu opens right where you tapped.
- Add your signature. Draw it with your finger, a mouse or a stylus, or import an image. Adjust its position so that it does not hide nearby information.
- Check and download. Review every page, check the wording you added, then export the new PDF.
What is actually written into the file
The text and the date are added as PDF text: they remain selectable and searchable in a compatible reader. The signature, initials and stamp are visual elements embedded in the page. The result is a new file; keep the original until you have finished checking.
This feature is for completing a blank area, or writing a name, a reference, a requested statement or a date. It is not a full editor: it does not replace an existing word, does not change the font of the original document and does not automatically recreate the fields of a scanned form.
Filling in a PDF form: what to check
- check that each piece of information sits next to the right label;
- zoom in on the page before placing text in a small box;
- do not use a signature in place of a person who must give their own consent;
- open the downloaded PDF and check that it is legible before sending it;
- if the document requires a verified identity or a qualified signature, use a suitable solution.
Data sent and local processing
In this workflow, the PDF, its name and the text you type are not sent to Parapheo. After an export, an aggregated signal may contain the name of the tool, the outcome, the number of pages and the volume processed. It is used to identify which features are used and to detect errors, without reconstructing the content of the document.
Frequently asked questions
Can I edit the text already in the PDF?
No. You can add new text wherever you want, but you cannot directly rewrite an existing sentence.
Does the added text remain selectable?
Yes. Unlike an annotation drawn as an image, the added text is written into the PDF and remains selectable and searchable.
Can I sign the same document after filling it in?
Yes. Add the text and the date, then place the signature or initials, and export once after checking.
Is the PDF sent to Parapheo?
Not in this local workflow. The separate “Get someone to sign” feature, on the other hand, involves deliberately sending the document in encrypted form.
