How to rotate a scanned PDF

One page or the whole file · Local processing

To put a scanned PDF the right way up, open it in the rotation tool, tick the pages concerned, choose 90, 180 or 270 degrees, then export the result. The other pages are kept without this rotation.

Straighten the document step by step

  1. Choose the scanned PDF. The tool accepts a file of up to 100 MB and 200 pages per run.
  2. Tick the pages to correct. The thumbnails and their numbers help you pick out the wrongly oriented scans.
  3. Choose the angle. A sideways page usually needs 90 or 270 degrees. An upside-down page needs 180 degrees. The same angle is applied to the ticked pages during this operation.
  4. Export the rotated PDF. Open the new file and check the first page, the last page and the appendices.

Rotation or automatic straightening?

The tool rotates the chosen pages in quarter turns. To apply two different angles, process one group of pages first, download the result, then open that result for the second group. The tool does not detect a tilt of a few degrees and does not crop the scanner edges.

Rotation does not run text recognition either. If the document is a scanned image, its text does not become selectable after this operation.

Before signing or sending the scan

Important limitation: rotating a page changes its orientation in the PDF, but it does not fix scan quality, blur, shadows or missing text.
