How to sign a PDF on Android
No paid app · No watermark
On an Android phone or tablet, you can sign a PDF in Chrome without installing a dedicated app. The document opens in Parapheo, you draw the signature with your finger and the final file is saved in your downloads.
From Gmail, Outlook or another email app
- Download the attachment. Open the message, tap the download icon, then wait for confirmation.
- Open Parapheo in Chrome. Tap “Choose a file”, then select the PDF in Downloads or Recent files.
- Tap the signature area on the document: a menu slides up from the bottom of the screen, with signature, initials, stamp, date and text.
- Draw with your finger and save. It is placed where you tapped, and the − and + buttons below it adjust the size without having to aim for a handle.
- Export the result. Tap “Download the signed PDF”, then find it in the Files app, Files by Google or My Files, depending on your device.
If Chrome can't find the PDF
First check that the attachment has actually been downloaded. In the Android file picker, open the menu and choose Downloads. On some Samsung devices, the document is in My Files > Downloads.
Tips for signing with your finger
- switch to landscape mode to enlarge the drawing area;
- use a stylus if your phone has one;
- import a sharp photo of your signature for a more consistent result;
- zoom in on the page before placing the elements.
Is the PDF uploaded?
Not when you sign it yourself. In this mode, the PDF stays on the device and can even be processed offline after a first visit. It is only sent to the server if you explicitly choose to get it signed by someone else, with prior encryption.
